Brooklyn Botanical Garden

Last month, Josh and I took a trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in Park Slope. It was a gorgeous day to take in nature and all the wonderful things the garden has to offer. If you have never been, I highly recommend taking a day and going to visit. The grounds are huge and you could spend hours getting lost and gazing at the beautiful flowers, plants, and trees.

Because we went in late summer, some of the flowers were not in bloom anymore (like daffodil hill). We spent some quality time in the Conservatory learning all about the Desert, Tropical, and Warm Temperature Pavilions. I loved the Japanese Hill and Pond Garden because it had a million different sized sea turtles swimming all around.

I want to head back to the gardens in the Fall because I'm sure this place is breathtaking once the leaves turn autumn colors. Check out the photos we took below and see for yourself.

It's All About the Dots

Polka Dots have always been one of my favorite patterns to wear. The print looks amazing in just about any silhouette including socks or an umbrella for a rainy day. Swimsuits and printed denim have capitalized on the trend this summer and items for Fall are endless. I'm on the hunt for a polka dot wool coat to add to my closet. Which item are you looking for?

The Battle of Jack Kelly

I have been talking about wanting to see Disney's Newsies The Musical on Broadway for over a year now and have been waiting somewhat "patiently" to snag a pair of tickets before it closed. A few weeks ago Josh's dad was visiting from Maryland and he thought it would be a fun activity if we all went to go see a Broadway show and my 2012 Broadway checklist was finally completed.

Putting aside the cheese factor of a lot men dancing around in knickerbockers - the musical was fantastic. Christoper Gattelli's Tony Award winning choreography was absolutely spectacular. Before the show began, I quickly read through the Playbill to see if there was anyone in the cast I recognized from a previous show and of course tally how many actors had appeared in a Law & Order episode. The ultimate question I asked myself was who was this actor Jeremy Jordan? And could he stack up against an 18 year old fresh faced Christian Bale? It was the battle of Jack Kelly and who was going to come out on top?

I never thought I would say this, but all hotness aside, Christian Bale's mediocre vocal chops cannot compare to Jeremy Jordan's voice - it was AMAZING. Click on the links below and I'll let you be the judge - who's the better Jack Kelly?
