Seeing Stripes
Top: A Line Skirt // Pant // Party Straws // 3/4 Length Shirt // Alice and Olivia Suitcase // Earrings // Umbrella // Tank Dress
Last season it was all about the dots, but this season it is all about the stripes. It seems that walking the line this Spring is the next best thing to do - consider it "Jailbird Chic". All Designers are showing stripes whether thick/skinny or horizontal/vertical. Marc Jacobs was the first designer to debut the bold black/white stripe trend at his Spring 2013 runway show last year and now everyone else has of course caught on.
Take a look at all the fun silhouettes above. Will you be rocking stripes this Spring season once the weather gets warmer? If so, what designer stripes have you been eyeing? I'll take the Kate Spade Wedge in a size 8 please :).

Phoenix
It's been almost four years since Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus was released. I've always wondered how they would top such an amazing album. Well wonder no more, their upcoming album Bankrupt! is on its way. The band recently dropped a new single titled "Entertainment" and it is full of sparkly synths and catchy hooks that you will be instantly tapping your feet. I can't wait to hear the whole thing this April. But for now check out their new single below - what do you think?

Friday I'm in Love
Top: Birdie Forever Sweatshirt // Peep Toe Clogs // Goreski Glasses Ring // Kate Spade: Things We Love Book // Stripe Silk Popover Blouse // Heart Print Prom Dress
Bottom: Honeydew Lingere // Stamp Dot Cuff // Toms Desert Wedges // Butterfly Shorts // Fairweather Cardigan in Double Dot // Celine Bag // Super Eyeglasses // Smoking Shirt
I can already tell that fashion and accessories this Spring are gonna seriously hurt my wallet. I usually am not that big a fan of Spring colors or apparel, but recently, there is so much that is catching my eye in an array of colors that I wanted to share with all of you. Most notably in green/emerald.
Kate Spade, Madewell, and Jcrew are my go to fashion outlets, but there are some other brands that are stepping up to the plate including - APC, Celine, and TOMS.

Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis: Vera Wang
Last night, my girlfriends Sunhi, Brittany and I attend the latest installment of Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis featuring infamous wedding designer Vera Wang. It was such a delightful evening - full of fun interesting facts from Fern and Vera herself. I live tweeted the event so if you missed my tweets don't fret you can check them out here.
I highly recommend checking out a Fashion Icon lecture with Fern Mallis at the 92Y. The next lecture is with Suzy Menkes. They are such insightful evenings and I always leave feeling inspired.
Below is a recap of my top 10 highlights from last nights lecture. Enjoy! Which fun fact do you find the most interesting?
--------------
1. Vera's zodiac sign is Cancer. Cancer's are by nature - loyal and hold traditions. Most of the US is comprised of Cancers. Vera was destined to delve into the wedding realm - a traditional staple of US culture.
2. There is not one designer that has dressed more celebrities for their wedding than Vera Wang.
3. Vera did not graduate from High School because she wanted to pursue her dreams of joining the US Women's Olympic Figure Skating Team. According to Vera; however, she was nowhere close to making the 1968 team based on her skills.
4. She speaks fluent French.
5. At only 23 years old, having just graduated from Sarah Lawrence, Vera landed a job at Vogue working as an Assistant Editor. She spent 16 years working there and later left to work for Ralph Lauren as a Design Director.
6. While Vera was searching for her wedding dress for her marriage to Arthur Becker, she ended up designing 7 dresses herself.
8. Vera would love to design athletic clothing in the future.
9. Vera admires and respects any designer that has the courage to put themselves out there. Jill Sander, Prada, Marni, Donna Karen, Comme des Garçons, and Rick Owens are just some that she admires.
10. Vera's advice to up and coming designers is to work for someone you really admire.

Indians
It's February, and it's cold outside. I can't think of a better way to spend a cold winter evening inside with a hot toddie listening to this amazing album titled "Somewhere Else". Danish artist Søren Løkke Juul's band called "Indians" is true a masterpiece. Play this album once, and any listener will immediately forget the below freezing temperature outside.
There is real beauty to be found hear with songs sounding similar to Grizzly Bear and/or Bon Iver. Take a listen for yourself and let me know what you think in the comments section.

Snail Mail
Although 365 days have passed, I highly recommended checking out her website because she is still sending postcards. All postcards are free of charge, her only request is that you send one back in return. Check out some of my favorite designs. I just may have to request a few for my new apartment.

Tegan and Sara
Seven albums later, Tegan and Sara are still on top of their game. I must confess, I haven't listened to these fine canadians since their album "If I Was You" came out. But after listening to "Heartthrob" I think it is time I go back and revisit a college band favorite.
Their single "closer" amps up this duos pop factor. Most reviewers coin this album as a sell out, but I disagree, I love their new transformation. What do you think?

Saturday is the Best
My favorite brand Kate Spade is set to launch a difusion lifestyle brand this Spring titled Saturday. Think C. Wonder, but on a much bigger and better scale. It's quirky, fun, and fresh and definitely something to keep your eye out for. This line will be priced a bit lower, which is huge news to all you Kate Spade fans out there who can never seem to justify their steep price points.
In addition to clothing, the brand will also feature accessories, home and tabletop collections. Their Instagram feed has been blowing up with sneak peak pics showcasing bright primary colors, geometric white and black prints, and an eccentric and whimsical ad campaign. Take a look for yourself, what do you think?

Chlöe Howl
My new music discoveries in 2013 are on a serious 80s kick. Let me introduce you to Chlöe Howl, a feisty redheaded 17 year old Brit with a bright future on her horizon. She's got similarities to Lilly Allen and Kate Nash. Her electro-pop single "No Strings" has got lyrics full of attitude and spunk. Her infectious voice is sure to make you hit the replay button over and over again. Check it out below. I've got it on repeat today - do you?

All the Single Ladies
My girlfriends Laura and Marisa came over the other night to celebrate my new apartment and life over Procescco and the ultimate cheese spread from Zabaar's. As a housewarming gift, Laura got me this amazing book that I had to share with all of you. Written by Beth Griffenhagen, who's full-time job is in the marketing department at the infamous Murray's Cheese shop, but at nighttime is a flawless haikuist.
Valentine's day is approaching and I highly recommend if you are single to pick up this little gem - it will def put a smile on your face. Amazon describes it as "an uproarious, uplifting, and brazenly honest celebration of the single girl's life" and I completely agree. Check out some of my favorite laugh out loud pages below. What do you think?
