Summer Twins

Mix a little bit She & Him and a dab of Best Coast and you have Summer Twins. They are sisters Chelsea (guitar, vocals) and Justine Brown (drums, vocals) born and raised from Riverside, California. Their dreampop songs with a little bit of a rock 'n roll flair have me hooked. They make me want to hop into my car with the windows rolled down and coast along PCH listening to their lollipop harmonies. Head on over to their bandcamp and take a spin for yourself. Or take a listen to my favorite tracks below. What do you think?

Roarin' Spectacles

I have been rockin' glasses ever since the 2nd grade. They have become quite the staple in my every day fashion wardrobe. Over the past few years I have racked up a few pairs from See Eyewear, Oliver Peoples, Madewell, and Tortoise and Blonde.

One company that I have always been a fan of is Warby Parker. Their company aesthetic prides itself on "vintage-inspired with a contemporary twist" that doesn't break the bank. Their opening price point for their glasses start at $95 - who can beat that? When they asked me to review their new 1922 Collection, I jumped at the chance. Based on Monday's post I can't get enough of the roarin' 20s, can you? They even have a quirky marketing campaign to boot.

According to their website, their new collection...

Translates interwar glamour into a wearable future. Each of the three new frames comes with a sunglasses version, and all feature dramatic details in custom acetate and lightweight stainless steel. The 1922 Collection frames go as well with pearls as they do with your best Tin Pan Alley moves. As they say: living well is the best revenge

Take a look at the below collection. I've got my eye set on the Porter style in gimlet tortoise. Which frame is your favorite?

MS MR

MS MR is a Brooklyn duo comprised of female vocals from Lizzy Plapinger and producer Max Hershenow. Their debut album "Secondhand Rapture" drops May 14th on Columbia Records and is definitely one you should be checking out. Their sound is combination of Florence and the Machine, Tegan and Sara, and Robyn - with that alone, I am sold on this group. Their single "Fantasy" is a fantastic song and if this is any indication of what the album is gonna sound like then I am already hooked. Oh and the video has cheerleaders puking glitter - sign me up. Check out the song below.

'Tis The Season For Sandals

'Tis the season for Sandals - FINALLY!! Since I'm a New Yorker and always on my feet, I live in flat sandals when the weather is warm. I am always partial to a neutral flat sandal because it can be worn with just about anything, but this year there are so many bright colorful sandals are popping up everywhere. Take a look at all the brands below. My absolute favorite of the bunch are the Red Valentino - after all, they have daises on them, a must buy. Which brand is your favorite?

Little Green Cars

As their lyrics suggest, "It's easy to fall in love/It's easy to fall in love..." with the quintet harmonies from Dublin's Little Green Cars. The group has been making music and around unofficially since 2008, but only just now getting recognized around the world because of their strong resemblance to The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons and a little Band of Horses. They were picked up by Glassnotes Records and have just put out their debut album "Absolute Zero".

The band is definitely one to keep your eyes on. With their harmonies, blend of folk rock, youth and longing lyrics they are ready to take over. Check out their single "John Wayne" below.

City of Love

Today I am off to Philly for a Bachelorette/Bridal Shower weekend to celebrate Robyn Stoter's upcoming nuptials. The bridesmaids and I have spent months planning the event and I can't wait to participate in all of the activities we have in store. It seems like just yesterday, Robyn and I were sitting in Musical Theater Ensemble singing 100 years of Broadway in preparation for a show at some retirement home in the Huntington Beach area - where does the time go?

Take a look at some snapshots below of Robyn and I from our glory days at HBHS. The funny thing about these photos is I look 8 when I'm really 14 and Robyn looks exactly the same and has not aged one bit. Oh the memories...

Military Chic

Top: Dress // Cape // Equipment Blouse // Adidas Loafers
Middle: Iphone Case  // T-Shirt // One Piece Swimsuit
Bottom: Skinny Jeans // Cut-Off Shorts // Loafers //  Sweater // Backpack

Another major trend this Spring season is camouflage or as I like to refer to it as "military chic". For the last couple of years, the camo print has popped up on the runway quite often. Originally, one could only find the print in a pant silhouette, but now so many designers are embracing the trend and developing the print in many different garments and accessories. How awesome is the cape from Marc by Marc Jacobs? Or the adorable backpack by Herschel? The trend has definitely evolved over time and isn't just a print for men, but now for women too. Which is your favorite silhouette?

Beat Connection

It's def Spring - this weekend was absolutely gorgeous. I spent both Saturday and Sunday mornings running in Central Park with beautiful weather and sunshine. With warmer climates comes more upbeat music and smiles. Check out this new band Beat Connection that I discovered on Spotify the other day.

All the way from Seattle, this quartet are making sweet jams. Their tunes are a perfect harmonious  blend of electronica and indie rock. With their infectious and somewhat repetitive lyrics/sound I'm already moving my feet at 30 seconds in and off the couch, up and dancing. I'm hooked, are you?
