These Boots Are Made for Walking

Fall is just around the corner and my favorite footwear is hitting the shelves - BOOTS.  No matter the style, either a classic riding boot or an ankle bootie with a slight heel, these shoes are my absolute favorite piece of footwear. Below are just a few styles catching my eye. I'll take each one in my size (an 8 btw). Which style are you currently coveting?

One Year Blog-Anniversary

This week Pewter and Puddles turns 1. It seems like just yesterday I was brainstorming ideas for a name, coming up with a logo, and drafting up my first post. Time sure does fly when you're having fun. I can't wait to toast this weekend with friends.

To celebrate my anniversary. Here is a look back at the top five posts about Music, Fashion, Home Decor, and NYC (based on page views) from the last year:

MUSIC:
One of my favorite parts about this blog is sharing my latest music obsessions every Monday. It comes at no surprise that Justin Timberlake ranks as the highest viewed. Did you see his amazing VMA performance over the weekend? Simply amazing.

FASHION:
Even though I spend my 9 to 5 working in the fashion industry, I never get tired of posting the latest fashion trends that are catching my eye every Wednesday. Check out the Top Swimwear Brands of 2013 just before your Labor Day Getaway this weekend.

FASHION:
Summer just flew by and October will be here before I know it. Check out everyone's favorite Halloween fashion post inspired by the Wardrobe of Teen Witch.

HOME DECOR:
My absolute favorite post this past year was sharing my adorable Bachelorette Pad with all of you. Thanks Garrett for capturing my shabby chic decor in all of its glory with your fantastic photography skills.

NYC:
The Upper West Side shares a very special place in my heart and also is home to one of my favorite brunch spots - Cafe Lalo. So thankful that it is within a 2 block radius of my apartment. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

~~~~~~~
A special thanks to all my family, friends, and blogosphere for your love, support and kind words. It makes me smile that you all continue to read and enjoy my posts. Cheers to another fabulous blog year ahead!
Panama Wedding
Meet Panama Wedding and listen to their latest single "All of the People" produced by the talented Andrew Maury. There isn't a whole lot of information on this NY based band. Just sit back and listen to the numerous hooks and synth goodness on their latest track which demonstrates upbeat simplicity. What do you think?
Swim Deep
I'm headed to California on Wednesday to spend some quality time with my family, help Renee pack up her life, and celebrate her final days in HB. I haven't been home since December and I am super excited to see everyone. I will be spending the weekend running to the beach, driving down PCH, and blasting some tunes from this awesome band called Swim Deep
Swim Deep are a quintet, indie rock band from West Midlands, England. There sound resembles Wavves and a little bit New Order. I'm instantly hooked, what do you think? Check them out below.
Paste It
I am a huge fan of eclectic art. These unique pieces always add an extra flare to your home. My newest obsession, is Denise Fiedler's art project called Paste - a creative take on the art of collage.
Fiedler is a lover books and each of her pieces takes vintage printed pages and incorporates them into her favorite images.
Her art evolves and develops with her imagination from traditional/iconic architecture, to fashion, to dogs, to food, to portraitures of people that have caught her eye and imagination. Check out some of my favorite pieces below. Anything catch your eye that you love?
Phillip Lim For Target
Ladies and Gentleman, mark your calendars for September 15th, not only to remind yourself it's my birthday, but for the next amazing collab at Target - Phillip Lim. In January, my girlfriend Jenn and I headed up to Harlem to shop the Prabal Gurung collection, which was such a fun treat. Lim's collection is expected to be even bigger and better. All pieces are perfect for the working professional inclusive of blouses, trousers, dresses, and sweaters. Don't forget fantastic party dresses and adorable silk PJs.
Oh and did I mention, there are also accessories. I have always eyed Phillip Lim's 3.1 handbags, but could never justify the steep prices. The collection will also feature price savvy satchels, totes, duffles and more.
Check out the lookbook images below. Which piece are you most excited about?
Katy Perry
I am a sucker for a good pop song, especially any pop song sung by Katy Perry. Her latest single "Roar", which is sure to be her next number 1 single, is the next best thing out there. Her lyrics are a statement of personal victory and independence. She can overcome anything that has tried to mess with her happiness. It is definitely art imitating life. Perry's had quite some hardships over the past few years, between her divorce from Russell Brand and on-again-off-again relationship with John Mayer - she is ready to celebrate life. All the ladies out there, it's time to crank up the volume, and sing-a-long to this epic female anthem. Enjoy!
Welcome to the Web - Rachel Antonoff
Back in 2010, I discovered NY based indie designer, Rachel Antonoff, while sifting thru some racks at Barney's. For years I have anxiously awaited her website to be updated. I was dying to browse current/old collection photos and shop her designs. My dreams have come true, it is finally here!!!
For those who are unfamiliar with Antonoff's work, it's time to start recognizing her awesomeness. Her aesthetic is girly, functional, whimsical, comfortable, and always colorful. She even designs for Bass Shoes (I swooned over her recent school girl charm collection). Also, her brother is Jack Antonoff (the cute guitarist from Fun and boyfriend to the infamous Lena Dunham from Girls). Convinced yet?
Head on over to her website and check it out. She's posted pictures from all of her collections. Her friends can be found modeling her designs, including Grace Dunham and Mae Whitman.
Don't forget to shop her adorable designs. The first 40 customers receive a fun t-shirt!!
And last, but certainly not least, she's got quirky videos featuring her clothes from prior collections. My absolute favorite is the one below, based off of the best movie ever, Teen Witch. Recognize some of her friends?
Midi Express
There is a new skirt trend in town - meet the "Midi". What was once popular in the 1970s is now making a huge comeback this Summer and Fall season. It is classy, timeless, and can work across a plethora of ages. It also is extremely flattering, showcasing the most shapely part of a woman's leg, just above her calf.
I love pairing these skirts with cute Summer sandals, but to transition this trend into Fall, consider pairing with heels or high heeled booties. These skirts are also a great option for a wear to work look that is a little more fashion forward instead of a plain suit. Who makes your favorite Midi?
Grouplove
It looks like someone has an infectious tune sweeping the internets and it's called "Ways To Go" by a band called Grouplove. A California quintet, formed back in 2011, is gearing up for their upcoming sophomore album Spreading Rumours, dropping around my birthday on September 17th. Their sound has similarities to Walk the Moon, Young the Giant, and/or Givers. Either way you won't be able to get this synth-ridden indie rock band out of your head after you spin this single a couple times. Enjoy!
Dipsology - A NYC Cocktail Guide
My girlfriend Krista just informed me of the most amazing website - it's called Dipsology. Meet Adrienne Stillman and Alexa Scordato, the team behind the scenes who curate the best guide to NYC's most noteworthy cocktail destinations. Are you up for a boozy brunch, a late night party spot, or romantic date spot? Dipsology provides a great collection of venue profiles and drink menus to help you decide where to go and what to drink. You can search from A - Z, or by neighborhood, or by activity - it is basically a cocktail concierge.
Dipsology just posted the best outdoor Summer drinking spots, check out of a few of their local gems below. I want to hit up both spots before the weather turns to Fall.
Best Rooftop
Gallow Green: We recently visited this train station cum rooftop garden for Campari’s Bartender Bash and it is enchanting (pictured above and right).  We also love that you can make reservations, so you’re sure to get a seat.  And if the weather is inclement, the romantic train cars downstairs aren’t too shabby either.Reservations & more info.
Most Romantic Garden
Raines Law Room: We love Raines for so many reasons, and this garden is the cherry on top.  Strung up with fairy lights, nestled in behind the bar on 17th Street, it’s the perfect place to take a date and hide out.  Check out RLR’s full profile for more details.
