In Decemberof 2011, Benjamin Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel filed for divorce. My favorite indie couple had called it quits and I was depressed. The only thing that I could look forward to was the Death Cab For Cutie breakup album to follow. One could probably say the same thing about the upcoming Coldplay album as well. Let's face it, heartbreak/loneliness always produces the best work.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we are all in for a real treat with their 9th studio album, Kintsugi. You can blame it on the divorce or blame it on the sad departure of original member Chris Walla. However, their latest single reminds me of the old days and I couldn't be more ecstatic. Their sound feels alive again and as a devoted fan it's refreshing to know that they're still on top after all these years.
