Joan

Are you all ready for some indie pop goodness - filled with 80s synth and 90s R&B? Well then get your ears ready to listen to Joan. They are a new LA based duo whose debut single "Take Me On" was co-produced by the infamous Tim Pagnotta (Walk The Moon and Saint Motel fame). In the spirit of love month - this jam is about spending the evening and forever with the one you love. It's Monday and what better way to kick off the week than to grab your overalls from the storage bin, give this tune a spin and start bopping your head. Enjoy!

The Future is Female

Although I did not participate in Saturday's Women's March, I did sit on the sidelines smiling. The overwhelming turn-out of women and men across the entire country who marched for a strong purpose and for our future was incredible. To my friends who marched consider me very proud.

Ever since the aftermath of the election, feminist merchandise has been sweeping the internet. A handful of brands created products that promote empowering messages (especially for the ladies) and endless positive vibes. Clean Cut Kid

Introducing Clean Cut Kid - a Liverpool quartet comprised of husband and wife Mike and Evelyn Halls, Saul Godman and Ross Higginson. They've got a sound similar to Paul Simon, Vampire Weekend, and Maps and Atlases. Their soulful pop ballads are infectious. Each tune combines indie-pop melodies and sprinkles of rhythmical intrigue. Expect big things in 2017 from this foursome. My ears were quite happy this weekend listening to their new single Make Believe. Enjoy the video below and then spin the acoustic link as well. You can thank me later.

Dare to Decorate: The Maryn

Dare to Decorate is back with a fresh installment this month. Introducing The Maryn, a decor website that provides a laid-back seaside stylistic approach to decorating your humble abode. The Maryn, which means of the sea, was founded by the genius Michelle Adams as a way to help you one effortlessly create the timeless aesthetic of a home on the water. Her inspirations are her favorite seaside spots - the shores of Lake Michigan, the south of France, Montauk and Sausalito. As a once magazine editor, she has realized overtime that trends are fleeting and therefore she has curated pieces that are here to stay - the kind you will love today, and years down the road.

Take a peek at some of the pieces that I am currently coveting for my apartment. Which one is your favorite.

Greenery With Envy

At the end of last year, Pantone announced that the color for 2017 would be Greenery. It's a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of Spring. Pantone states that this color will "provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose. A life-affirming shade...emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality." Damn, that sounds like a pretty powerful color if you ask me.

Green has always been one of my favorite colors and what better way to take 2017 by storm with this punch-tastic hue. Check out all the amazing items I found for your wardrobe and around the house.

Dear Evan Hansen

Last weekend, I braved the blizzard and headed out to the theater to see the new buzzed-about musical Dear Evan Hansen. I've been desperately trying to see this show since last Summer when it was off-Broadway but failed on all accounts. I was overjoyed to hear that it would be moving to Broadway in 2017. For those unfamiliar with the musical, the synopsis reads as follows, "a letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he's always wanted: a chance to finally fit in."

Let's set the record straight, Ben Platt of Pitch Perfect fame is immensely talented. If he could sing me to sleep for the rest of my life, I would absolutely be ok with that. In addition, Pasek and Paul (the genius' behind La La Land) are an incredible songwriting duo.

The musical had me crying, laughing and beaming with joy. After the 2nd song, I determined that Ben Platt would win the Tony Award and show will sweep every other category. You heard it from me first. Therefore, stop what you are doing right now and run to the theater to this incredible work of art. In the interim, check out some clips below to tide you over before the curtain rises...
