Marina and the Diamonds

One of my coworkers Alysha recently introduced me to the fabulousness of Marina and the Diamonds, and let me tell you, she is one kick-ass, synth-pop, queen. Marina Lambrini Diamandis, born in Brynmawr, Wales and grew up in a the nearby village of Pandy. Through out childhood, she sang, wrote music, danced, and acted. After several unsuccessful auditions, including opportunities with the musical The Lion King and a boy band organized by Virgin Records, in 2005, she gave music her biggest effort. She came up with the stage name "Marina and the Diamonds" to honor her fans, instead of her backing band and the rest is a musical dream.

With sounds similar to Katy Perry, Regina Spektor, and Florence Welch, I've had her on heavy rotation all weekend long. Take a listen to my favorite tune below and get ready to add her to your new running playlist. Enjoy!
